The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is a U.S. federal agency responsible for regulating the safety of consumer goods to reduce the risk of injury. Its jurisdiction applies to the manufacture, importation, and distribution of thousands of everyday items, such as home appliances, children's toys, and household chemicals. To oversee this, the agency establishes mandatory safety standards, conducts research, and manages product recalls for non-compliant or hazardous items.

As of July 8th 2026 CPSC Certificate of Compliance data must be filed electronically with the Customs Entry for regulated consumer products. You can read more about it in this article. To register your products with the CPSC you can use the CPSC Product Registry. Shiptheory uses the product SKU as the referencing value for the CPSC product registry.

Shiptheory supports shipping under CPSC regulations. To get started you need to first update your products with relevant CPSC information. This can be done via Shiptheory's API or via the product catalogue in Shiptheory.

All CPSC fields are optional. It is your responsibility to ensure that the information which you provide Shiptheory is up-to-date and accurate. To add CPSC details via the product catalogue  you need to mark your product as CPSC regulated using the controls provided.

Once you have your CSPC information uploaded to Shiptheory this information will be forwarded to the following carriers when shipping to the United States.

  • FedEx®
  • UPS
