Archiving a shipment in Shiptheory is a way to organise your dashboard and hide specific shipments from the main active views (like the "Ignored" tab).

Here's what it does and doesn't do:

  • Hides the Shipment: An archived shipment will typically only appear in the "All" tab or a specific "Archived" section of your dashboard, removing it from default views.
  • Not Deletion: Archiving is not the same as deleting. The shipment record is retained within Shiptheory.
  • Data Retention: You can still search for and find archived shipments if needed.
  • Organisation: It helps keep your main dashboard views tidy, especially for shipments that don't require further action or viewing (e.g., completed orders after a certain period, ignored orders you don't want cluttering the view).
  • Automatic Archiving: Shiptheory may automatically archive completed shipments after a set period (e.g., 24 hours) to help maintain organisation.
  • Manual Archiving: You can typically archive individual or multiple shipments manually through options on the shipment list.

How to Archive Shipments

There are 3 ways you can archive shipments:

1. Automatic Archiving

Wait 24 hours. Assuming the shipment is complete, after 24 hours the shipment will automatically be archived to help keep things organised. You can disable this feature by visiting the following link, and disabling the Archive Automatically feature.

2. Manual Archiving (Single Shipment)

Right-click an order on the dashboard and select 'Archive Shipment'. This will place the order into the Archived state.

3. Manual Archiving (Multiple Shipments)

If you'd like to archive multiple shipments, you can select the tick boxes on the left-hand side of the dashboard next to the orders. Then, at the top of the page in the black bar menu, select 'Archive'. This will archive all the selected shipments.
