When using Shiptheory, it's now possible to make your shipments carbon neutral. This can be done very easily through the Shiptheory system;
Why should I carbon-offset my shipments?
When sending shipments from A to B, there will always need to be some method of transportation used. Whether that be by road, air or sea, but all 3 can lead to more carbon in the atmosphere. Using Shiptheory's option to carbon-offset your shipments allows you to negate the mileage of these and make them carbon neutral at the minimum, this will mean that there's no negative impact on the environment.
It's also a positive thing to display to your customers; giving them the ability to choose whether they'd like to make their shipments carbon neutral. In fact, 88% of people will be more loyal to a company that supports social or environmental issues.
How can I set this up?
When setting up your shipping rules, you may notice an option at the bottom to have all shipments that book in through this rule to be carbon neutral. To enable this, all you need to do is hit the tickbox and save the rule:
Once a rule has been saved like this, carbon credits will be purchased for each shipment that matches this rule. You can set this up with as many or as few rules as you like! You may want to allow your customers to choose at checkout whether they want the shipment to be carbon neutral. You could set up a rule that looks specifically for that being selected at the checkout and then makes that shipment carbon neutral. At the end of each week, you'll be provided an invoice for the carbon credits cost used that week.
What does this go towards?
With each shipment that matches a carbon neutral rule, Shiptheory will purchase carbon credits that are used for reforestation. This allows each shipment made to have it's delivery mileage offset.
You'll also be provided a list of certificates for all shipments that are carbon offset. You can then provide these to your consumer, if you wish.
