Adding Royal Mail to your Shiptheory account is easy. Follow the simple steps outlined below.


  1. Click 'Royal Mail' from the menu in the top right corner of the screen, as pictured below.


  2. Complete the API Username, Password and Account Number fields. If you do not know what these details are, please call the Royal Mail help desk on 08456 047267.

  3. Click the Test Connection button to make sure your details are correct.



  4. If the test returns successful, click Save and you are ready to start creating Royal Mail labels.

I don't know my Royal Mail API Username or Password


If you do not already have Royal Mail API username, password or your contract number, you must request these from Royal Mail. The request process can take up to 2 weeks. To help things go smoothly, contact your account manager and ask for Shipping API credentials. Tell them it is for Shiptheory and use support@shiptheory.com as your technical contact.  

If you do not know who your account manager is, please call the Royal Mail help desk on 08456 047267 and they will be able to tell you. The help desk will not be able to request Shipping API details for you, the request must go through your account manager.


Test Connection is Failing


If the Test Connection button reports a problem, it means that your Royal Mail API username, password or your account number are incorrect. Please call the Royal Mail help desk on 08456 047267 to confirm your details.
