Depending on your sales channel, it is possible setup shipping rules to use the ship from (sender's) address to decide how shipments are dispatched. This is useful when shipping from multiple warehouses, retail locations or when drop shipping. A list of compatible sales channels along with how to configure each channel is available towards the end of this page. If your channel is compatible with multiple senders addresses and you have enabled multiple sender's addresses, follow the instructions below for an example of how to to create a shipping rule using the sender's address.
Creating Shipping Rules with Sender's Address Conditions
From the main Shiptheory menu, navigate to Manage Rules -> Add New Rule. Select the carrier and service you wish to use and then chose the Sender's Address fields you would like to create rule conditions. In the below example, we have created a shipping rule that creates Royal Mail Tracked 48 Signed labels when the sender's postcode is BS1 5PU.
Important Note: Sender's Address & Your Carriers
Shiptheory will use the sender's address downloaded from your channel where possible, however some carriers may not support receiving a sender's address at the time of label creation that differs from the address on your account. Additionally, your carrier may attempt to collect from different sender's addresses, which may not have been your intention. Finally, your carrier may levy additional charges for providing different or multiple sender's address. The following table lists which carriers are compatible with multiple sender's addresses. You may wish to discus relevant collection/charge implications with your carriers.
