To connect Shiptheory account and Royal Mail together you're going to need an Online Business Account (OBA) from Royal Mail.

If you do not have an OBA account you can apply for one here


If you already have an account, follow the steps below to start the process of getting it connected.


Step One

To add the Royal Mail integration to your account you'll need to click on 'Manage Carriers'


Step Two

Scroll down until you see the Royal Mail integration as per the picture below, click enable and the integration will now be on your account.


Step Three

To access the integration and start filling in the application form you'll need to click on your account drop down menu. You should then see 'Royal Mail', click on it then on the 'Settings' option.



Step Four

Now you'll see a form on your screen with a few fields of information that you'll need to enter, I'll list these and what they are below.


  • Account Number - If you do not know this number, please contact your Royal Mail account manager.
  • OBA Email Address - Please enter the email you have registered on your OBA account. It is important this email matches exactly, to prevent delays. If you do not know the email used on your OBA account, please contact your Royal Mail account manager.
  • OBA Company Name - Please enter your Company Name as known to Royal Mail on your OBA account.
  • Services - Please select the domestic and international services that you use.
  • Collection Time - What time should Royal Mail arrive to collect the days parcels? Labels created after this time will be added to the following days collection, providing you do not manually manifest after this time. Please use 24 hour format, such as 17:00.
  • Monthly Volume - How many parcels, approximately, do you send with Royal Mail per month?
  • Saturday Collection - If Royal Mail collect from you on Saturday select yes.
  • Tracked 24 Contract No. - You can find your Tracked 24 Contract Number on your invoice from Royal Mail. Leave this empty if you do not use Tracked 24.
  • Tracked 48 Contract No. - You can find your Tracked 48 Contract Number on your invoice from Royal Mail. Leave this empty if you do not use Tracked 48.
  • Default Commodity Description - The Commodity Description is a description of the product(s) being sent internationally. Shiptheory will try to get the commodity description from your product data, where not available the default value entered here will be used.
  • Default Country of Manufacturer ISO - The Commodity Description is a description of the product(s) being sent internationally. Shiptheory will try to get the commodity description from your product data, where not available the default value entered here will be used.
  • Default HS Tariff - The HS Tariff or Commodity Code is the customs codes that relates to the description of the items being sent internationally. Shiptheory will try to get the HS tariffs from your product data, where HS tariffs are not available the default value entered here will be used.


After these have been entered please click the "save" button. Your application can take a few days to process and we will let you know as soon as your OBA account is connected to your Shiptheory account.
