When booking any international shipments, depending on the destination country, shipment value and contents, there may be import charges, customs duties and/or taxes that need to be paid before the shipment can be released to the addressee.

With DPD.de, you have the option of indicating who is responsible for paying for these charges should they apply to any international shipments.

How to set Customs Charges Responsibility

From your Shiptheory DPD.de settings page, click on Advanced Settings in the bottom left corner of the page.

There are four options from which to select -

  • Seller, including Taxes (DDP) (default)
The seller is responsible for ALL charges at the destination, including any local taxes.
  • Seller, excluding Taxes (DDP)
The seller is responsible for ALL charges at the destination except for any taxes which are payable by the recipient.

  • Recipient - Import & Duties (DAP)
The recipient is responsible for ALL import costs, customs duties and taxes at the destination country.

  • Recipient - Duties only (DAP cleared)
The seller is responsible for any import costs. The recipient is responsible for any customs duties and taxes at the destination country.
