If you use Shopify POS for your in-store purchases in conjunction with your online Shopify store, you may notice that these are being downloaded into your Shiptheory dashboard.


While these will not affect your online orders, it may be the case that you don't want to see these orders coming into Shiptheory at all. These orders will have a Failed status immediately due to not having associated shipment data (since they are simple in-person transactions without a recipient, tracking, and so on). The reason that they are downloaded into Shiptheory is that Shopify POS works by creating an order before immediately fulfilling it once payment has been completed - this order fulfilment is the trigger for all Shopify orders to be brought into Shopify, if you have selected the following setting:



Since this is a global setting for your Shopify store, all fulfilled orders will be brought into Shiptheory regardless of being online or through your physical POS.


The best solution for this is to consider switching the setting above to download Orders rather than Shipments. When changing this setting, Shopify orders will only download when marked with a chosen Shopify Order Tag, rather than all fulfilled orders. This means that as long as your POS orders do not use this tag, they will not appear on your Shiptheory dashboard. You can find out more information about how Shiptheory interacts with Shopify order tags here.
