If, when opening your Shopify settings in Shiptheory, you see the following -
or when attempting to book a shipment, you receive the following error message: "Your Shopify connection requires updating. Please visit your Shiptheory Shopify settings to update your connection"
Both instances indicate that whilst Shiptheory is able to connect to your Shopify store, not all permissions that Shiptheory requires to fully process your orders and shipments are being granted by Shopify.
How to Update Your Shopify Connection
From anywhere in Shiptheory, click on your name in the top blue bar and select Shopify from the drop-down menu to head to your Shopify settings.
Click the blue Update Connection button. You will be redirected to Shopify to refresh your permissions with Shiptheory. If there are any new permissions that need to be granted then Shopify will indicate these to you to approve.
Once completed, you will automatically be redirected back to your Shopify settings in Shiptheory as normal.
What permissions does Shiptheory request from Shopify?
- View Shopify account data
This is standard for all Shopify apps and allows Shiptheory to connect to your store and view your basic settings including your shipping addresses.
- Manage orders
This grants Shiptheory access to download your orders and shipments for the last 60 days and view inventory levels to process and fulfil orders.
- View products
This permission grants access to read product information including weights and commodity data for customs clearances.
